Nanshan Life is committed to making an impact on climate change and health issues. In 2024, the company once again participated in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP29). At the World Climate Summit (WCS), Chairman Chung Yao Yin delivered a keynote speech titled “Climate Resilience and Health – Financing Strategies for a Healthier Future.” He emphasised that the insurance industry has a profound understanding of risks and plays a crucial role in addressing climate change by investing and financing initiatives. Nanshan Life also provides financial products and services that help clients recognise, mitigate, and transfer risks in advance.

Through partnerships and strengthened alliances, Nanshan Life helps individuals and society prevent and transfer risks. The company's key initiatives include:

Safeguarding Public Health Risks Through Insurance Products and Services

Nanshan Life is dedicated to offering comprehensive health and financial protection for its policyholders. The company provides diverse insurance products, including those with spillover mechanisms that encourage policyholders to focus on their health and prevent diseases. These efforts enhance societal resilience in the face of climate change.

Leveraging Insurance Influence to Help Vulnerable Groups Resist Climate Risks

Through its charitable foundation, Nanshan Life has donated "microinsurance policies" to offer a safety net for vulnerable individuals during unexpected events. To date, the foundation has provided coverage for 730,000 individuals.

Launching Care for Vulnerable Groups and Remote Communities to Address Health Inequalities

Since 2013, Nanshan Life has initiated a medical care program, providing over NT$530 million in medical subsidies to assist families facing financial difficulties due to medical emergencies. In 2023, the company launched the "Care for Remote Indigenous Villages Program" initiative, partnering with hospitals and NGOs to address the challenges of inadequate medical resources and accessibility in remote areas. The program also promotes chronic disease awareness and health education, improving the health literacy of residents in these regions.

Climate change poses significant challenges to human health worldwide. Nanshan Life aspires to be a "Leader in Sustainable Health," utilising the influence of the insurance industry to enhance health resilience at the individual, societal, and environmental levels.
