Our Climate, Our Future - Setting the Agenda for Transformative Climate Action
Following the record-breaking heat of 2023 and the world being far off track from its climate change commitments as revealed at the first Global Stock take, COP29 in Azerbaijan and COP16 in Colombia are positioned as critical moments for the strategic advancement, funding, and execution of climate and environmental objectives. Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty and major political elections across the US, EU, and a third of the African continent, the upcoming year will serve as a defining period for upholding and executing climate and nature commitments.
This session will focus on capturing the critical juncture at which global climate action currently stands. It will highlight the urgent need for decisive action, review recent achievements and setbacks in climate initiatives, and outline the strategic directions needed to meet the 2030 transition goals and net-zero targets by 2050.
