Regina Schmidt
Head of SDG2 Acceleration - WFP Innovation Accelerator
Regina Schmidt is the Head of SDG2 Acceleration at the United Nations
World Food Programme (WFP) Innovation Accelerator. Her role is to
identify and enable high-impact innovations, preparing them to scale up and accelerate WFP's journey to end hunger and malnutrition.
Regina is leading the sourcing of disruptive innovative solutions and the sprint piloting with WFP’s global network and field operations in over 120 countries and territories. Her portfolio of ventures is addressing a wide
range of humanitarian and development issues, including emergency
preparedness & response, supply chain & delivery, climate change, food system transformation or gender equality.
The SDG2 Acceleration unit is running under Regina’s leadership innovation programs with external partners like Google.org/Google for Startups, Adaptation Fund or CGIAR to bring technical and financial support for innovations to WFP.
Regina has over 25 years of experience in innovation management, growth and business development. Prior to joining the Accelerator, Regina worked in the consumer goods sector and was Partner at a leading strategy consulting company supporting global companies in more than 30 countries and 4 continents in growth but also efficiency topics. Regina holds a master’s degree in international business administration.
