Dr. Celia A. Harvey

Director of Climate Change - Rainforest Alliance

Dr. Celia A. Harvey is Director of Climate Change at Rainforest Alliance, where she provides strategic, technical and thought leadership on climate adaptation and mitigation across farms, forests, landscapes and agricultural supply chains. Dr. Harvey has over 20 years of experience working on issues of nature-based solutions to climate change, tropical agroforestry, biodiversity conservation and smallholder farming systems.  Her professional experience includes serving as international consultant on nature-based climate solutions for UNEP, IUCN, CIFOR and others, as Vice President of Climate Change Solutions at Conservation International, and as Professor of Tropical Agroforestry at the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE). In these diverse scientific and leadership positions, she has conducted action-oriented research, implemented multi-million-dollar, interdisciplinary research projects, managed complex multi-country projects, led ambitious capacity-building initiatives, taught graduate-level courses and actively engaged in national and international policy discussions on climate change, sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation, including at the UNCBD and the UNFCCC. Dr. Harvey holds a B.S. (Biological Sciences) from Stanford University and a Ph.D.  (Ecology) from Cornell University.
