A prominent figure in the Indian industry with global recognition for his active role in combating climate change, Mr. Mahendra Singhi leads Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited ( in the capacity of Group CEO and Whole Time Director. Over the last 36 years, Mr. Singhi is synonymous to the growth and development of country’s leading cement companies. Beginning in 1977-78 with Maiher Cement, Mr. Singhi held leadership positions with major cement companies including Shree Digvijay Cement, Rajashree Cement, and Shree Cement. He led Shree Cement as President from 1995 to 2002 and then as Executive Director before his present appointment to Dalmia Cement. Mr. Singhi’s entrepreneurial abilities and deep knowledge of the cement business have helped these corporates chart new growth territories and achieve market leadership. His expertise lies in driving and sustaining industry leadership in a global context, fostering self-actualization and competencies at every level through a robust backbone of trust, support, innovation, and reward.

Mr. Singhi is actively associated with several initiatives in the area of sustainable development and environment protection. He is Co-Chair of the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) in India. A thinker and advocate of sustainability, Mr. Singhi has been the driving-force in inculcating this concept in the objectives and operations of the companies he has worked with. The leading Indian cement companies are setting global benchmarks today in climate protection and energy efficiency. This is more than a decade long sustainable performance strategy started by Mr. Singhi under his leadership.

In a recognition for the leadership role in climate protection drive, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of United Nations, invited Mr. Singhi to attend the Paris Agreement Signing Ceremony in New York during April 2016. He was one of the two business representatives attended the ceremony from India. Mr. Singhi also represented Indian business and cement sector during COP-21 and during High-Level Government-Business Dialogues invited by French Presidency among the ministerial representatives, the global business leaders, and civil society.

A frequent guest speaker and industry expert, he has addressed various peer reviewed fora on diverse subjects including energy conservation, sustainable development, clean development mechanisms, low carbon economy transitions, circular economy, business ethics, cement, etc. With deep experience in cement and commitment to increasing the happiness quotient of people, Mr. Singhi is a spiritual person, an avid reader of behavioral psychology and loves nature.

A science and law graduate, Mr. Mahendra Singhi is also a chartered accountant.
