Prof. Dr.-Ing. Armin Schnettler is heading all Siemens research activities in Energy and Electronics at Corporate Technology. He joined Siemens in 2013 as Senior Vice President of New Technology Fields in Corporate Technology. In addition, he holds a full professorship and is director of the Institute for High Voltage Technology at RWTH Aachen University, Germany since 2001. Before this period, he held several positions at ABB and became member of the management team of ABB’s business area “High Voltage Products and Substations”. Until joining Siemens, he has been managing director of ‘Forschungsgemeinschaft für elektrische Anlagen und Stromwirtschaft e.V. (FGH e.V.)’ – Research Association of Power Systems and Power Economics.
His main research topics are: “Energy Transition & Decarbonization”, mainly the integration of renewable energy sources in power systems and markets, Storage Systems, Electrification of all sectors and Future of Manufacturing. Armin is scientific advisor and member of many national and international organizations and committees and editor-in-chief of “Archiv für Elektrotechnik – Electrical Engineering“, Springer Press, Heidelberg.
